Why she became an orthodontist
Dr. Holland's path to orthodontics stems from her love of problem-solving and passion for helping people feel confident. She compares designing orthodontic treatment plans to solving complex puzzles, where every piece must align perfectly for exceptional results. She finds joy in providing patients with functional, healthy bites that boost their self-confidence and enjoys the rich interactions with diverse individuals that her practice brings. Her practice includes a wide range of treatment approaches—from clear aligners to lingual (hidden) braces and jaw surgery—tailored to the needs of each patient. What advances and new sciences she is excited about these days
Dr. Holland is energized by the role of technology in advancing orthodontic care. She’s particularly excited about the use of 3D printing and artificial intelligence to customize bracket systems and streamline treatment planning. These innovations not only improve precision and outcomes but also shorten treatment times—making care more efficient and accessible for patients.Dr. Holland's tips on a current trend in dentistry
Dr. Holland cautions against the rise of DIY braces and mail-order aligners. While they may seem convenient, they can cause long-term damage if not supervised by a licensed orthodontist. Her advice: orthodontic treatment is both an art and a science—trust a trained professional to guide your care safely.Professional qualifications
Dr. Holland is a board-certified orthodontist who earned her DDS from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center before completing a General Practice Residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City, which she now calls home. She continued her training at St. Barnabas Hospital, where she completed her orthodontic residency. During her four years of hospital-based training, she regularly treated dental trauma in emergency settings—an experience that sharpened both her clinical precision and calm under pressure.
A lifelong learner, Dr. Holland stays current through continuing education and is an active member of the New York Airway Study Club, the American Association of Orthodontists, and other professional organizations. She also dedicates time to volunteer work, including the Mission of Mercy and Give Kids a Smile programs, providing free dental care to families in need.
